  Dr. Geoffrey Skinner

  Dentist

  I’m Dr. Geoffrey Skinner. My passion and expertise are in creating beautiful smiles that create lifelong confidence that change lives. Sounds like something all dentists should do, right? Well, the fact is that very few have the eye for top-notch aesthetics. To be great at this kind of profession, you must be very technically skilled, have a deep mathematical understanding of 3D positioning, have lots of experience, and at the same time, one must have the vision of an artist. My team and I have a lot of experience. At the time of this writing, Hillsboro Dental Excellence is the #1 general practice Invisalign provider in Oregon! I am a regularly invited lecturer at the American Academy of Clear Aligners, of which I am also a board member. That gives some unique perspectives on the latest techniques, skills, and algorithms, and provides me experience with Invisalign that others just don’t have. I believe in staying current with technology, which is why I have invested in the very latest and most advanced digital scanners that only a handful of dentists in Oregon have. We can even show you what your future smile will look like on our digital scanner on your very first visit! My training in dentistry was started at The University of Iowa, which is widely regarded as one of the best dental schools in the world. It is one of just four (4) dental schools in the World to have all eight (8) recognized dental specialty programs, which gave me advanced training that many dentists don’t have. Prior to that, I completed two bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Biochemistry, with minors in Physics and Psychology. I have earned advanced certifications in Invisalign, dental implant surgery, implant restoration, dental sleep medicine, and CAD/CAM computerized dentistry. That is why I’m a proud member of the following associations: American Dental Association The American Academy of Clear Aligners Oregon Dental Association The Academy of General Dentistry The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine The Academy of Osseointegration Dental School was not my only dental education. While I was in dental school in Iowa, five (5) of my friends and I created a software company called Higher Learning Technologies. While they did other things such as develop apps for nursing, I worked exclusively on building apps for dentistry. I wrote 6 of the top selling and top rated dental apps in the world while I was in dental school. Higher Learning Technologies (HLT) has gone on to produce over 200 high-end apps for Apple and Android and is considered one of the best high technology education companies in the world. Many of our apps have even won Mobile App of the Year! I also wrote a dental anatomy app that is used in the curriculum of dental schools all over the world. It’s true that dentistry pays better than most, but developing the number one selling dental apps in the world pays better. If my primary motivation was money, I would have stayed at HLT and continued to develop apps. Instead, I moved to Oregon where I expect to spend the next 20 plus years practicing dentistry in Hillsboro. I love practicing dentistry because it allows me to help build relationships with patients, and in most cases, become friends with the people that I help. One of my greatest joys in life is seeing the look of happiness on my patient’s faces when they see the results of what we have done for them. Another passion of mine is teaching other dentists. I’ve lectured to hundreds of my colleagues at all the top dental conferences in New York, Austin TX, Nashville TN, Dallas TX, Miami FL, and Canada. Outside of the office, I enjoy camping, tennis, martial arts, traveling, backpacking, biking, and cooking gourmet meals for friends and family. I share my home with a big grey fluffy rescue cat named Leonard Skinner.

  Tina

  Team Leader

  Tina is our practice’s team leader. She is well known for her outstanding smile that never seems to stop. Tina greets most of our patients as they arrive at our practice. Tina says that she’s happily chosen Hillsboro Dental Excellence to work for because, “the company is not just about money, it’s about helping people in need”. Because the practice operates on that philosophy, everyone here is completely 100% patient-focused, and that makes it a fulfilling, exciting, and wonderful place to work.” Tina has been in the dental industry since 2007. She is our patient’s secret weapon for working with insurance companies. Tina will read all your insurance company’s fine print for you, so you don’t have to. She will maximize your benefits to make certain that you will pay as little as possible out of pocket. Tina is married with three children; her daughters Mirella and Miya, and a son Rodrigo (named after his father). Tina loves camping with her family and any activities involving Oregon’s beaches, lakes, and rivers.

  Surgical Assistant

  I’ve worked as a dental assistant for over 3 years now. Working here at Hillsboro Dental Excellence with Dr. Skinner has been a great experience thus far. I’ve met a lot of dentists, and Dr. Skinner is different than all of them. It’s not just that he is smart, he has unbelievable skills. I have seen him do things with dentistry that I was sure was impossible. I was the first person in my family to graduate from high school and to graduate from college. I became a dental assistant because I wanted to help people. I didn’t know how I could do that until I discovered my passion. With Dr. Skinner’s encouragement, eventually, my goal is to go back to school and become a practicing dentist. Don’t worry, though; whenever that happens, I will be coming right back here to Hillsboro Dental Excellence to work as a dentist after I graduate. There is no other place I would rather work than here. Besides, I could never leave all my patients! I am married and have a young son named Jayden. When I’m home, I love to eat food, watch cool movies, and spend time with my family.

  Restorative Assistant

  I was born in Mexico. My family and I moved to Oregon when I was 6 years old, and I have lived in the Hillsboro area ever since. I am married and have two wonderful children, Damian and Naomi. For fun, I enjoy being outdoors with my family doing things such as camping, hiking, and fishing. I am a licensed restorative assistant, which means that I can place beautiful fillings. I’ve worked with many dentists, but when I met Dr. Skinner, I knew that I had to be part of his team. His beliefs and compassion truly inspire me and give me hope. It is truly amazing to see someone care about people as much as he does. That was exactly what I had been looking for, for so long. Dr. Skinner has provided me with excellent training and fantastic personal coaching, which has helped me to see life at a whole new level. At Hillsboro Dental Excellence, our entire team is focused on our patients’ complete satisfaction, and that makes me feel proud. Dr. Skinner will not just hire “anyone” to take care of his patients. When you walk into our office, “you can actually feel the love in the air” that we all have for our patients and each other. I genuinely love working with all my patients.   Licensed Dental Hygienist

  I was born in Portland, Oregon, so I’m a Wonderland native. I became a dental hygienist midlife. Because of family obligations, I was not able to go to Hygiene school as early as I would’ve liked. However, I am persistent, and I never give up. Eventually, I went to Portland community college, midlife, and got my Hygiene license. That’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I am so happy that I have finally accomplished that. The reason that I work at Hillsboro Dental Excellence is really just one reason: “The Team, The Team, The Team.” Everyone here is focused on the patients and their experience. The other reason that I truly like it here is that Dr. Skinner consistently does what’s best for the patient, not what’s best for his pocketbook. I like working with a dentist and a team that puts the patients first, so that’s why I proudly work at Hillsboro Dental Excellence. If you haven’t been to the dentist for a long time, I want you to know that no one at Hillsboro Dental Excellence will ever judge you for that.   Licensed Dental Hygienist

  I was born in born Spokane, Washington, and moved to St. Helens, Oregon, at the age of 6 in 1996. Right out of high school, I contemplated on being a registered nurse or a dental hygienist because I knew I was meant to help people. I made the best decision of my life and attended Dental Hygiene school in Portland, Oregon, in 2011. I’ve been on my life’s mission as a hygienist ever since! I live in St Helens, which is a bit of a commute to Hillsboro. I could work somewhere closer, but Hillsboro Dental Excellence is a world class dental practice, and I get to work with such an amazing team of people. Dr. Skinner is a genuine, down to Earth, and wonderful human being who comes to work each day with a contagious smile. On top of that, I have the best patients in the world, so Hillsboro Dental Excellence has become my second home. I have many hobbies! One of them includes spending time with my fur baby, Duncan James, who is an 8-year-old pom/chi. I also enjoy several outdoor activities such as 4 wheeling, mushroom hunting, fishing, crabbing, crawdadn’, camping, and much more! I have traveled to Mexico, Belize, Canada, and the Bahamas. I plan on traveling in the next year! I think Europe is next! I am a real animal lover; I want to save all the animals in the World! Someday, I would like to become a college professor and teach dental hygiene! “Give without remembering, and always receive without forgetting.”
